Round One Stonecutters Playoff Floor Hockey!
The Matchup: #6 Stonecutters (away) vs. #3 Glove Sniffers (home)
Date and Time: Monday, March 07, 2011, 9:30 P.M.
Location: Gates Field House (located inside Ritchie Center), University of Denver.
Last Meeting (Regular Season): 3-1 L (01/17/2011)
All-time record vs. Glove Sniffers: 0-1
Enough with the regular season already! Let's get to the real season: the postseason!
Although the Stonecutters didn't finish on a high note in the final week of the regular season, they did receive a small blessing from the hockey gods as they draw the third-seed Glove Sniffers in the opening round of the playoffs. In their regular season meeting, a couple of untimely penalties lead to the Stonecutters' undoing as the Glove Sniffers capitalized on their chances to break a 1-1 tie in the first period to come away as victors.
While the matchup on paper looks to be slanted in the Glove Sniffers' favor, they too didn't end fare very well in their regular season finale, losing to Wild Bacon 4-6.
The last time these teams met, it took special teams to decide the victory. Now there can be no room for error. Will the Glove Sniffers again snare victory from the Stonecutters, or can the Stonecutters write another chapter into their book of firsts this season and advance to the next round?
